About Mike Wiemer:
Mike is focused on identifying and developing new technologies and businesses. He has a broad set of interests spanning Applied Physics to Software to Data. He is also a student of Business Models, People, Culture, and Leadership.
In 2007 he Co-Founded Solar Junction where he helped build the company, its technology, and its customers. With the other Co-Founders, Mike led the technical teams to two world records in Solar Cell efficiency (43.5% and 44%) and then sold the company in 2014. Before success with Solar Junction, he tried to start two other companies - a datacom company and an image sensor company.
Mike is now building a new company with some amazing people. He also advises a variety of early stage companies on their product/business/financing strategies.
Mike has a BS, MS, and PhD from Stanford University, all in Electrical Engineering. He has patents and papers in Semiconductor Devices & Applications, Silicon Photonics, Materials Integration, Lasers, Solar Cells, Solar Systems, and Analog Circuits. He has given talks on technology and entrepreneurship at Universities and Events in the US, Middle East, and Asia, and speaks regularly at Stanford University.
